recipe - earth waffles
Recipe crafted lovingly by wallclimber
Ingredients
peanut oil
whole oats
whole wheat berries
whole barley
whole rye
lecithin (optional)
dark honey
whole nutmeg
rice or soy milk
soy margerine
old electric waffle iron
Instructions
This is a special triathlon runner's/body surfer's no-refined-bits breakfast
that can double as firewood or emergency flotation... and it's really tasty!
first you have to soak the grains overnight (I keep some soaking in the
fridge to use in many other recipes) when they have softened, take a half cup of each and add to a blender w/some of their soak water to make a paste. Heat the waffle iron, mix equal parts whole grains to gound paste, add lecithin (or flour) until mixture holds together, put plenty of peanut oil in the waffle iron (and deftly flip it over while closed to coat both sides) add mix to iron to 1/2 inch thickness, and close to cook until brown and smells roasty. These are excellent with soybutter and dark honey, with a brilliant satisfying crunch that will open your eyes
